An Ode To My Current Favorite Shift Dress.
When it comes to dresses, I like them slightly oversized not body hugging. I like them the right length – maxi or just above my knee. In a way that shows just enough legs but not too much. I’ve never been a fan of minis and micro minis.
In other words, I like my dresses – shift style. I think that every female should own at least one shift dress. It’s casual one minute and the next, super dressy. As long as you know the right extras to jazz it up for the dressy look.
You see, this Topshop shift I picked up at Actress, Eku Edewor’s closet sale had just one of that. It was oversized, Yes. The fit even baggier than my usual fit. But that I could manage. After all, there’s nothing that says comfort like a free flowing dress.
The length, however, was what got me thinking twice about taking it home with me. It was a bit shorter than my comfort zone with dresses. I stared at my reflection in the mirror asking a couple of times if “it wasn’t too short and where would I wear something this short to”. I’m more modest than I look.
But my friend’s “You should totally take this dress. Forget the length, it looks perfect on you” sealed the deal for me. I mean, I could see it too but I guess I just needed the extra vote of confidence. It be that way sometimes.
I’m glad I got the dress because I’ve styled it over and over again and it never fails to get me compliments every time. In this post, I’m sharing two casual ways I’ve styled it recently.Just Like The Plain White Tee and Black Denim Pants, One Staple Every Female Should Have In Her Closet Is The Shift Dress. When it comes to dresses, what’s your style like? Are you more body hugging than oversized? More midi, than maxi or mini? Or are you just like me?
How would you style this dress differently? Please share with me as I still plan to re-rock it over and over again!
