“Naturally” Bright even skin tone is the one thing that I’ve been trying to achieve over the years and I think I’ve finally cracked it!
I’ve never had major issues with my skin and I’m one of those fortunate to have “problem free skin” but the one thing that has got me poring over skin care routines and obsessing over skin care products is my un- even skin tone. You know when your body and legs are obviously team light skinned but you’re still unsure if your face can qualify as caramel or brown-skinned? That!
I know a lot of people can relate to this because our Nigerian sun wrecks major damage and uneven skin tone is one of the main complaints I hear on the regular asides from Acne. So when I finally found a natural skin care brand that has helped even my skin tone out and bring that glow I’ve been longing for, I just knew that it would be unfair to not share with my blog fam.
A couple of people have commented on my new glow and asked what products I use on my skin. I wish I could just say that it’s glow from God, minding my business and drinking lots of water but while that’s part of it, a major part is thanks to my new routine using the skinsational skin care products.
Skinsational skincare is a Nigerian natural skin care brand. I already talked about going natural with my skin care routine here so when I stumbled on the brand at home, I knew I had to try their products. What actually got me sold was the multiple testimonies from practically everyone in my house on how my sister’s skin has been glowing ever since she started using their products.
I immediately got on their Instagram page, found a contact number and placed my order via WhatsApp. I got three of their products – face scrub, soap, and cream which I’ve used consistently for about a month now and decided it’s about time to put up my review. In case you’re wondering, no! This is not a sponsored post.
I replaced my previous skin routine with skinsational products and now use just these three products and I can definitely see the difference in my skin tone. I’ll be talking about my new routine and reviewing each of the products as well. There’s also going to be a giveaway of one of the products so keep reading!Want Naturally Bright And More Even Skin? 1. Miracle Face Soap.
Packaging: The miracle face soap comes in a small 75g tub which seals well and makes for easy access. It is the only one of the three products that came with a label showing the constituents of the soap and an instruction manual
Feel: This soap has a pasty feel (not the regular feel I’m used to but it’s not something I can’t handle so no complaints about that) and lathers just right so a small quantity usually does the job. Like the Namaste Organics black soap, It also doesn’t give me that extra dry feel I got with the Dudu Osun.
I honestly don’t use this as the instruction says because I don’t understand applying soap on my face for 15mins and I usually don’t have the luxury of time. Sometimes, I apply the soap on my face as soon as I get into the bathroom and wash off after bathing and other times I apply and wash off immediately.
2. Miracle Face Scrub.
Packaging: Now, this comes in a tub as well but a 200g size. It didn’t come with any labels so I have no idea what it contains which isn’t cool at all. Now that I think of it, is there really an alternative to a tub for a product like this?
Feel: This is my least favorite of the three products, mainly because the consistency is more watery than thick so it can be very messy. I prefer my scrubs thick so I can feel the grit instead of having to put a finger in to mix it all and scoop to apply. It has a minty feel that can irritate your eyes if you’re not too careful with it. All these aside though, it definitely leaves my skin feeling smooth after use but I doubt I’ll re-purchase after this finishes and would stick to my DIY face scrub which equally did a wonderful job to my skin!
I use this three times a week and sometimes I throw in some extra days when I get off a stressful 24hrs call at work and feel like my skin needs some TLC.
3. Turmeric Face Cream.
Packaging: Again, this came without any label or instruction and in a really small tub that I wonder why it isn’t just named a “sample size” *side eye*
Feel: This is actually my favorite of all three products! I don’t know if it’s the color that’s deceiving me into feeling like it is super effective lol but I can actually feel a slight glow after applying this on my skin.
It absorbs really well although it rubs off a bit rubbery on dry skin so I like my face to be a little wet before I apply it.
Price: N5000. The smallest, yet the most expensive lol
UPDATE: I’m beginning to doubt the “organicness” of this product because I don’t look more than a bit toned now. It appears like there’s a bleaching constituent in there and it isn’t all turmeric.Because Glowing Skin Is Always In - How I Achieve Bright Even Skin Tone + A Giveaway! Click To Tweet
I’ll be giving away the miracle face soap and all you need to do is go follow me on instagram: @cassiedaves, share this post using the click to tweet box above and leave a comment on why you want to win. Winner will be announced on Wednesday
I use the scrub to exfoliate, then the face soap to cleanse followed afterward by the face cream.
I honestly can’t say for sure which one of the three products has helped my complexion (it’s probably a mix of all three) but I can definitely say that they are the reason for my recent glow and brighter skin tone.
UPDATE: So I asked around(around meaning my sister and google) and found out that the face cream is the main product that helped with the toning. Apparently it contains a lot of turmeric and can also isn’t meant to be used long term. I’m currently weaning off it and watching to see if there’s any change in my skin tone after this.
Now I’m just looking for the perfect natural face mask to add to my routine and a good sunscreen to maintain it all. So, please if you have any face mask and sunscreen suggestions for me, kindly let me know in the comments.
Also, have you used any skinsational skincare product before? How did it work for you?
