Med Diary || Moving To Medicine + An Update.

Quick Update Guys.

So I’m back to work! I’ve been low-key looking forward to going back to work just so I can move forward with this housemanship thing again and get it over with.

Like I explained in my last med diary, we go through four department (Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics, O&G) and spend three months in each. I completed my first three months in the obstetrics and gynaecology department and I blogged all about that experience here.

Like I mentioned in that post also, I start medicine posting next and I resumed that today. For some reason, I woke up this morning feeling so apprehensive about going back to work and the whole uncertainity around not knowing which particular unit in Medicine I’ll get posted to wasn’t helping matters.
Well, after a nerve wracking 30 minutes or so, I finally got posted to the endocrinology (let’s call it Endo) unit – they deal majorly with endocrine/hormone issues like Diabetes, thyroid issues and co (If you get the drift). Definitely not where I was praying to get *sigh*

My Day one in Endo was not the best first day at all. I’m definitely counting down to the end of this all. Praying for all the favour/grace to get through this and come out in one piece at the end of the next three months. Also focusing on being positive, speaking only positivity and re-affirming what I want everyday.
Please feel free to leave me any supportive quotes or bible verses you think will be helpful. I’ll be needing it all!

Now to you!
How’s life lately going for you ?
What’s one thing/affirmation you hold on to when things don’t seem to be going right?
Also, Let’s connect!

P.S –  You might have missed these!

  • Happy belated birthday Cassie. Sorry it's coming late. And I support the scripture Tuke posted…God does have great plans for you. At the end of the 3 months you'll definitely see his hand and be grateful you were posted to endo. Keep being positive. *hugs and kisses *

  • Am not that good with Bible verses, but one thing I've learnt from being an addict to your blog Is that you can find beauty in everything, maybe it looks dreary but trust me 'Seek Beauty and you'll find it…..and look at this movie 'Annie' she said ''when she sees a day that's grim, and lonely she just sticks up her chin and grin and say. sun will come out tomorrow, so I gotta hang on till tomorrow''..just smile and think positive thoughts, alrite?
And thank you so much for sharing my post on twitter!!!! Thank you so. Much!!!
    Love and Light

  • You prayed about the posting, right? Well, God definitely doesn't just do things with reasons. I'm sure there's something/someone God has connected you to in the department. Just endure. The best is yet to come.

  • For you to have made it to this stage, i believe you're stronger than anything that might have comes or coming your way!
Wish i could supply you with an inspiring quote but can't just find one right now.
However this might comes handy for you: Focus on the positive energy flowing around and ignore the negative. It does works for me

  • Hello Cassie,

The Lord is your 💪💪💪 and He says, 'I will lead you by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide you.I will turn the darkness into light before you and make the rough places smooth'.

  • When I feel a bit low, I remind myself that everything happens for a reason. It all boils down to me looking for the good reason that will eventually pop up, and then I talk to friends who lift my spirit and do positive things inbetween. Wish you the very best these 3 months.

  • Hey Cassie, it may all seem overwhelming now but I'm sure of two things it wouldn't always feel this way, and the posting would surely end.
Medicine was my least favorite posting during hj, but looking back I'm forever grateful for those moments today.

The scripture I will leave with you is "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me ".
You can learn to confess it as often as you can and I believe Christ will strengthen you for this phase.

  • Hey Cassie,
No matter what you are going through right now, it is all a part of God's plan which is far greater than you know right now. It sucks when you do not get what you want, but no matter where we are, we should embrace and enjoy. There is always a silver lining.
Wishing you the best. It is definitely coming.

  • I hate that you can't rotate through units in your medicine posting. If you rotate into a unit with a terrible consultant, you're there for 3 months. I hope I get to rotate into Cardiology coz I wanna do cardiology. If I don't get that, Dermatology/Gastroenterology coz the Consultants are awesome. I'm totally dreading Neurology. I can't lobby coz we're going to cast lots, and even if you offer to swap with 200k no one would agree to swap Neurology. Someone tried it. I wonder why you didn't lobby though.

  • All the best. Be strong and courageous cos God is with you… JER:1VS9… I personally don't like medicine cos I feel all their consultants are toxic but God that saw you through your medical school postings will see you through this.
